Peter Shone, Managing Director
A dependable leader, passionate about excellence and people, Peter Shone originally founded JPCS in 1993 – at the age of 25 – as a footway slurry sealing business. Over the last 20 years, Peter developed JPCS into a national operation, diversifying services from specialist highway services to rail infrastructure and latter specialist civil engineering solutions for renewable energy. Peter has led JPCS through sustained growth, from 15-80 people, sales of over £10mn, and putting in place robust management systems that include a range of accreditations, including Investors in People. Peter has also championed the EFQM model across the business, which won a Commendation for Leadership at the 2011 UK Excellence Awards.
With a wealth of operational experience and understanding, Peter is responsible for business strategy, health and safety, financial probity, personal development and ensuring the business is adaptable to meet the needs of our customers.
Peter is directly engaged in monitoring and reviewing corporate and business objectives, as well as developing strategies, facilitating innovation, maximising continuous improvement, and realising the 5 star excellence model goal, as well as being closely involved with new business opportunities and commercial control and senior appointments. Peter has brought talent into JPCS by hand picking key individuals into key positions.
Peter is also a non-executive Director of Goodlife Foods and WO & J Wilson a family investment company and a trustee for Selwyn-Lloyd Charitable Trust, as well as a Fellow of the Institute of Asphalt Technology and a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.
A capable sportsman with a love for all team sport Peter is still playing league cricket. Peter has run 4 marathons raising money for Whizz-Kidz.
