Road Surface Treatments Association (RSTA) Health and Safety Award (Behavioural Safety) – Winner

We won an RSTA Health and Safety Award in 2012 in the Behavioural Safety Category for our Visible Felt Leadership approach. Joy Jones, HM Principal Inspector, Construction Division, Sector (National) Safety Team, HSE, who was a member of the judging panel at the awards, said: “A comprehensive approach to laying the foundations for sustained improvements across the business and its supply chain including health and safety. The elements which made [JPCS’ entry] stand out were leadership, integration of health and safety within other business ideals and the acceptance that all levels of employee needed to be involved to bring about cultural change.” 

Road Surface Treatments Association (RSTA) Health and Safety Award (Innovations) – Runner-up

We were awarded ‘Runner-up’ in the Health and Safety Innovations category at the 2013 RSTA Annual Health & Safety Awards. Following an audit and review of the previous process, we invested in the development of a new reporting system for non-conformances and near hits, which was recognised as a Health and Safety Innovation in the surfacing industry by the RSTA judging panel.

British Quality Foundation – Jury Commendation for Leadership

We received a Jury Commendation for Leadership at the 2011 UK Excellence Awards. Professor John Murphy (Chair of the 2011 UK Excellence Award Jury), who presented the award to JPCS at the 2011 UK Excellence Awards ceremony said: “JPCS  has been commended by the Jury for Excellence in Leadership – this is evident in the Leadership style of the senior team, and is extremely well deployed at all levels throughout the organisation.” 

Green Business of the Year (Cheshire Business Awards)
- Highly Commended and Finalist

We were Highly Commended for our green credentials by the judges of the Cheshire Business Awards 2012. JPCS was shortlisted with two other Cheshire businesses in the Green Business of the Year category for excellence in green practice, strategy and product engineering. Recognised as a leading environmental brand within the highways, rail, and energy markets, JPCS was highly commended for green business practice, which included a focus on driving innovation with new technology, sustaining ISO 14001 environmental accreditation for over 12 years, the employee-led WasteWise programme, which aims to reduce waste and optimise resources, and building almost 20MWp of energy since  entering the solar market.

EFQM – Recognised for Excellence – 4 star rating

In 2010 we achieved our 4 star EFQM rating (Recognised for Excellence). We operate on the excellence model endorsed by the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). Our EFQM journey in the pursuit for excellence has enabled us to analyse our business and identify our strengths and opportunities for improvement. We are currently working towards the 5 star rating.

Investors in People – Accreditation

JPCS was one of the first highway maintenance and civil engineering companies in the UK to gain Investors in People status, back in 1996 – only three years after the company was founded. We have been successfully re-awarded Investors in People status five times, most recently in 2012, demonstrating our commitment to our employees: “Testimony to the success of the JPCS approach to creating a culture of excellence can be found in the continuing accreditation to Investors in People which tests both Leadership approaches and deployment.” – The British Quality Foundation, 2011 UK Excellence Award Feedback Report

Award for ‘speed of fixing’ and ‘quality of repairs’

Our client Cheshire West and Chester Council received a national award from the UK National Cyclists Organisation, for the standard and quality of the work for pothole repairs – using our pothole repair and road repair product, Rejuvopatch -  also reaching the top of the league for both the ‘speed of fixing’ and ‘quality of repairs’ category (People’s Vote)

Highways Magazine Excellence Awards – shortlisted finalist

We were shortlisted for the Innovative Road Construction/Maintenance Product of the Year (Groundscrew) and Contractor of the Year categories at the 2008 Highways Magazine Excellence Awards.
