Ground mounted solar PV scheme wins Sustainability Award

A 50 kWp ground mounted solar PV project installed by JPCS has won an award for the ‘The Best Large Scale Renewable Energy Scheme’ in Cornwall earlier this month, at the 10th Cornwall Sustainability Awards. The Cabilla Manor project, commissioned by author and explorer Robin Hanbury-Tenison, was completed in August 2011 and has already generated around 45,000 kWh worth of energy in the first year.

This year, as part of Big Energy Saving Week, JPCS put together some practical tips for savings that can be made on energy bills and CO2 by being energy efficient, through a guest post on the Anglian Home Improvements blog. JPCS “Highly Commended” for green practice

National civil engineering contractor JPCS was Highly Commended for its green credentials by the judges of the Cheshire Business Awards 2012, earlier this month. The commendation follows a shortlist in the Green Business of the Year category, sponsored by Mersey Forest, for excellence in green practice, strategy and product engineering. The other shortlisted companies in the category were 20:20 Mobile Group Ltd, and the winner of this year’s award, Quinn Glass Ltd.

Renewable Obligations will still support small scale renewable energy

Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker has today confirmed that businesses will still be able to get support for small scale renewable energy technologies under the Government’s Renewables Obligation (RO) scheme. New small scale solar, anaerobic digestion, onshore wind and hydro power installations of between 50kW and 5MW had been under threat of exclusion from the RO from 1 April 2013, with the RO supporting renewable energy technologies over 5MW, and Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) supporting investment in solar, small scale wind, anaerobic digestion and hydro power projects under 5MW in size.
